Infertility is defined as the incapacity of a couple to conceive a child despite having regular sexual intercourse within the period of one year. The definition is further expanded into two classifications:
- Primary infertility, which means that a couple has never had a child; and
- Secondary infertility, which means that at least one of the couple had at least one child in the past; however, a medical problem is impairing their present fertility.
