Several studies show that infertility is common to the population of reproductive age. One such study was the one conducted by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, which says that infertility affects around 6.1 million Americans or about 10 percent of the reproductive-aged population.
Another study conducted by the National Center for Health Statistics states that approximately 4.5 million couples experience infertility problems every year, whereas less than half of these infertile couples actually seek aid from the medical community. Though infertility is not epidemic, it is a relatively common problem in both men and women.
