You have to consider that generic drugs are far cheaper than brand name drugs. Most generic drugs offer the same effect as brand drugs. Generic drugs are also tested for their effectiveness before being released into the market. Because of kickbacks and other agreements made with pharmaceutical companies, a doctor will often prescribe a brand name by default. If you want to save money for a particular drug, you may need to ask your doctor about the generic drug available in order to get him to prescribe the less expensive generic version.
