A jump shot is one of the most important moves in basketball. It is done from a standing position, with both feet leaving the floor. This is used typically for doing a free throw.
You should release the ball in midair or at the top of your jump. This allows more power and range and elevates you over the defender. Failure to release the ball before your feet touch the ground again is a traveling violation.
