A blocking or charging foul is considered a personal foul. This happens when you block a player who is attempting to do a shot, and you block his way using your hands, palms of your hands, knees or elbows. The opposing player will be given a free throw depending on where you committed the foul. This is among the most common types of fouls in basketball.
