Every team member has a designated player to guard on the opposing team. If you are a player, you should guard your man even when he doesn't have the ball. This is because other players can pass the ball to him to sink a shot.
Man-to-man defense is the best defense you can do. Block any attempts by the opposing team player to catch the ball when it is passed to him.
