The symbols and the rites of celebrating Christmas are often associated with paganism. On the other hand, these have now become part of Christian tradition:
The Star - This represents the guiding star that appeared at the birth of Christ as stated in the Biblical account. This is also a representation of Jesus as "the bright and morning star."
The Evergreen Tree - This is used to symbolize the invitation for a speedy return of light and warmth after the winter season.
Gift-giving - This symbolizes a way for the people to help and share as one community. It also recalls the gifts the Magi presented to the Child Jesus, according to the Biblical account.
There are many other symbols that represent Christmas such as wreaths, lights, stockings, and bells. Each of these symbols carries its own meaning.
