This depends on the type of electric blanket you purchase. You can leave it switched on all night if the blanket has thermostatic controls. However, if it has no thermostatic control, use it to warm the bed before you get in it but be sure to turn it off and unplug it when you go to bed. It can start a fire if left unattended.
