You should always make sure that your belongings are safe before putting them inside the van. When you open the boxes in your new home, you want your things to be able to serve the same function they did before you moved. Things like chinaware and crystal need special protection.
You can wrap these fragile tiems with plastic bubble wrap or paper. Newspapers are good for this task. Also fill each box full enough that the wrapped items will not move around inside it.
