Infrared photography is more commonly used in military and scientific applications. It uses a special film that is sensitive both to light we can see and to light that is invisible to the human eye. Infrared photography can take photos even at long distances or high altitudes with very clear quality.
Since every type of object radiates infrared light, the military uses this type of film to detect camouflaged troop positions, and scientists commonly use it for forensic applications and aerial crop and forest surveys. It is also used in the investigation and restoration of paintings.
