A hip roof is a roof sloping from all the corners of a particular structure, without vertical ends. The hip is the outside angle at which adjacent sloping sides intersect. The degree of such an angle is called the hip level. The sloping surface that is formed by the hips that intersect at the ridge of the roof is called the hip end.
