All of these types of roofs have their own advantages, mainly due to the type of material used. Here are the advantages of each roof type:
• Asphalt composite shingles are relatively low cost and have a long life expectancy. They can also be fire-resistant, depending on the class rating. Most of these shingles also carry a wind-resistance label, which means that they are tested to withstand high winds.
• Asphalt fiberglass roofing is stronger than asphalt composite, giving the structure even better protection from fire and high winds.
• Metal roofs are durable, can last for a long time, and are fire-resistant. They can also resist wind and other adverse weather. Metal is also known to be a good insulator, thus helping conserve energy and reducing your energy bills.
• Tile roofing can withstand fire, snowstorms, and intense heat.
• Wood shingles and shakes are durable and can withstand most extreme weather conditions. Also, wood is of low cost because of mass production and high availability in the market. It can also give your home a back-to-nature look.
