Your moving company should always make your possession secure during travel. They should also accept liability for any items damaged on the trip. You should always choose a company that gives this kind of service.
• After moving, check as soon as you can for things that may have been damaged or lost.
• Give a detailed description about the missing object or the damage in your checklist. You should also keep yourself informed about the mover’s liability on ruined or missing items, by knowing the amount of insurance coverage provided by the moving company.
• File a claim of loss or damage with the mvoing company within nine months after your move.
• Do not accept a settlement offer or mover’s denial of liability. Contact the American Moving and Storage Association if you are not fully satisfied with the service they gave you.
