The storage of computer files refers to the hard drive and the floppy disc. To store, the head moves over the disk through an actuator. The head moves over channels named tracks, similar to a record. The sector is the smallest unit on the platter and the bytes are dealt inside their place in the sector.
Imagine the platters above each other in a 3D way. The sector is one portion going from top to bottom. When the Read/Write head places the information or just reads it from the drive, it scans the sectors in a cylinder. In this way, all connected data are stored together in a way that is easily accessed.
