Based upon the advice of the American Psychological Association (APA) a trustworthy hypnotherapist must undergo several types of training and education to avoid the harmful effects of hypnosis. The practitioner must have a goal that will encourage the patient to be involved in his or her hypnotic responses.
Also, according to APA only an authorized psychologist must practice hypnotism in order to promote patient’s healthy therapy.
Some legitimate psychological clinics give recommendations about the proper practice of hypnotism. Bear that in mind and do not go to just any “quack” practitioner.
There are also websites that offer advice how to conduct hypnotism in a safe way.
