Hypnosis, in general, is a psychological situation wherein an individual shows signs of changes in their behavior, thought, or attitude. On the other hand, some people may undergo an increase in suggestibility and subjective feelings of an "altered state of consciousness."
Hypnosis applications vary widely. Some people use of hypnosis just for entertainment, others for health functions.
Hypnosis is not a type of therapy. Most psychologists use hypnosis to perform psychology-related techniques. During the presentation of the technique, the subject learns how to obey the psychologist's commands and change their behavior in ways they might not normally do.
