When your aquarium has noticeable moss in it and emits an unpleasant smell, you should clean your aquarium. Cleaning an aquarium is as easy as washing dishes in the sink. All you have to do is to remove the fish first.
Transfer the fish temporarily to a bowl or a pail of water that you have dipped from the aquarium. Then empty the aquarium of the remaining water and remove all the accessories from it.
Wipe the aquarium with a smooth sponge so that the glass will not be scratched. You may use other glass cleaning substances but if you do, be sure to rinse the glass completely before putting the fish back into the aquarium.
Then refill the aquarium with clean water and treat it with whatever water treatments your aquarium requires, and gently restore the fish, with the old aquarium water, to their clean home.
