Cirrhosis of the liver is a chronic disease which interferes with normal liver functions and is often caused by chronic alcoholism or Hepatitis C. It is manifested by scarring and disturbed liver functions, such as blocked blood flow. It also reduces the liver's ability to remove bacteria and toxins from the blood.
Cirrhosis of the liver does not manifest many symptoms during its early phases; however if the healthy cells are replaced by scarred tissue, the person will eventually experience symptoms like fatigue, exhaustion, appetite loss, weakness, nausea, weight loss, abdominal pain, and spider-like networks of blood vessels developing in the skin.
