DT's is short for Delirium Tremens, a disorder involving severe and sudden mental or neurological changes leading to seizures caused by stopping alcohol usage abruptly. Other factors that are present include elevated blood pressure, elevated temperature, and rapid pulse rate.
An individual can suffer the DT's after heavy alcohol consumption with little or no food in the stomach. The symptoms are due to the toxic effects of alcohol on the nervous system and brain.
