Yes, because the brain immediately feels the effects of alcohol after drinking. The first part of the brain affected is the frontal lobe section, which controls judgment and social consciousness. As a result, an intoxicated person may try doing things considered taboo or inappropriate in the present setting. Alcohol also slows down the nervous system, leading to slurred speech and affecting the concentration and memory of a drunken person.
Major brain damage occurs as a result of prolonged excessive drinking. It destroys brain cells so intellectual ability, problem solving capacity, and memory are all negatively affected. Some people are even committed to mental institutions due to the brain damage caused by alcoholism.
