The following agencies can help you find a support group in your area:
• The National Depressive and Manic Depressive Association (N-DMDA) funds free self-help support groups for persons who are experiencing depression or bipolar symptoms. You can search for their web site under support groups to find out if they sponsor a support group near you.
• The National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI) has a hotline for the purpose of providing support. They can provide you with local telephone numbers for support groups in your area.
• The United Way funds different types of support groups all over the country. Many local United Way groups have a variety of hotlines that can put in touch with free self-help and support groups. You can also visit their website to find telephone numbers for different United Way supported hotlines in your area.
