For depression that is based on a chemical imbalance in the body, the only complete cure is to correct the imbalance, but talking to another person can always help. In fact, it is one of the best things you can do to help yourself feel less depressed. Some people who might help you are:
• A specialist at a mental health center or Mental Health Association
• A dependable family member or friend
• Your family physician
• Your priest or clergyman
• A school counselor or nurse
• A social worker
• A responsible adult
• A psychologist
Otherwise, if you do not know where to go, the telephone directory or information operator should have telephone numbers for a local hotline or mental health services or recommendations.
