This depends on the type of stain. If it is a wet stain, you probably need to use a deep cleaner to clean the carpet fibers. Vinegar will help remove stain residue from carpets. On the other hand, if it is a dry stain that has been there for a longer time, you will need to apply an enzyme-type cleaning product.
