Synthetic rugs normally resist staining and are better with soil than wool rugs. However, wool has excellent stain resistance if caught immediately.
Wools are available both in hand- and machine-made rugs, but synthetic rugs are normally more affordable. Wool has a tendency to last longer than synthetic because the natural propensity of wool is to stretch and not to break.
Wools are also able to absorb dye very well, which makes a smoother appearance than synthetic.
