The difference between the two is that spot color is not a combination of colors that make other colors but is a single color that can be assigned a PMS or Pantone Matching System number. while the four-color process uses Magenta, Cyan, Black, and Yellow inks, usually on a four-color process digital press or printing press. These four colors can be combined in various ways to make other colors.
