Stereoscopic vision is the ability to see depth or three dimensions. This is produced when two scenes in the retina are fused together as one. When you close your left eye you see one angle of the scene different from the angle when you close your right eye and let your left eye see. When you open both eyes, you will then see one scene, but with depth instead of just two dimensions. That is a stereoscopic vision: the merging of two scenes into one, thereby perceiving depth.
