Bamboo is a very adaptive plant. This may be due to its being a grass. The roots of bamboo extend about 2 meters (over 6 feet) from the center of its stem and extend downward 4 to 5 meters (13 to 16 feet) deep. With those numbers, bamboo roots can strengthen the soil surrounding the plant, making it a good way to control soil erosion.
