Bamboo can live up to fifty years or more. Because of this characteristic, Chinese regard bamboo as a long-life charm. The life of a bamboo is sometimes connected with its flowering system.
However, those fifty years may not be the maximum lifespan of a bamboo. There are explorations that have proven that the bamboos grown in highlands with lower temperatures may be more inclined to live longer than those situated in lowlands near urban centers. There are disturbances that make a bamboo die sooner, such as temperature, climate, and human intervention.
