DSL modems are required for proper DSL service. This is a hardware item that receives and sends your DSL signals.

DSL modems are very different from dial-up modems. They allow you to have high speed internet and keep your phone line free while you are using the internet. Most phone companies who have DSL service will include the DSL modem in the installation package; therefore, you won't need to buy a DSL modem if you want to have a DSL line.
