The direct approach is the best way to communicate your special needs. Learn and practice the easiest way to move yourself and your equipment quickly but safely. Always be prepared to give short, concise, clear and specific instructions to the hotel personnel, either in writing or verbally. If you have a visual impairment, advise the personnel to grasp your arm or let you grasp their arm, whichever works best for you. If you're deaf, ask them to write things down for you.
