It's not enough that you look at what the ads say. It's not even enough that it's a high profile school. Your first consideration should be whether the school offers the program you want. Many business schools have established their reputations in specific business programs, so if you're interested in marketing, choose the schools known for their good marketing programs. The point is, their program should match your needs and goals. Of course, include in your considerations factors such as tuition, placement rates, scholarships, and others.
A school's reputation precedes them. Ask around among possible employers what schools they prefer their employees to come from. Some companies and employers may have a bias or a special preference towards one or two business schools based on the training, curriculum and working attitude of their students. Check the school's track record. A good business school not only has many graduates, but their graduates should also be successful in their internships and employment.
Another consideration is the school's connections with the industry and the business world. If the school is affiliated with reputable companies in the industry, then it means that the student is assured of good internship training and an extensive network which may prove to be useful in his career.
Other considerations would include the faculty, who should be experts in their fields, modern facilities, student support, and teaching methods, which should be a balance between theory and practical application.
