Hotel ratings are somewhat but not completely dependable. There have been reported incidents of customers not being satisfied with certain hotels although they have had very high ratings.
If you're booking with an online travel reservations engine, these sites use their own hotel rating system, and there are times when it is not what customers expect it to be. Be sure to check with legitimate hotel rating systems when you are comparing hotels.
