For a person to become a registered nurse (R.N.) he or she must complete high school, then graduate from a qualified nursing school, which usually takes four years, and then pass licensing exam for nurses. The exam is usually administered by the state. A person cannot take the licensing exam if he or she is not a graduate of a nursing degree course.
