Both are fully qualified physicians. A D.O. or a Doctor of Osteopathic medicine prescribes medications, performs surgery, and uses all available scientific methods to cure and repair damage to a person's health. An M.D. or a Doctor of Medicine refers to the scholastic degree completed by a medical professional, but is more traditional.
