What types of exercises are prescribed to tone up my upper body?

You can do triceps push ups to tone the muscles in your upper body. You can use very light dumbbells in doing the triceps raises. These can also be done during aerobics. Bear in mind that you are toning up your upper body, so do more work on your upper body during an aerobics session, like swinging your arms while doing a walk.
Arm spirals are also a good exercise. This is done by holding your arms straight out while doing the spirals.
There is also the compound fly exercise. This is done on the bench by holding dumbbells in both hands and move them in imitation of a flying movement.
