A federal trademark search is done to determine if the trademark that you are applying is not yet registered to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office database. It is not only done on the database of the USPTO; all available public databases are also searched for any trademark that is not in use. Primarily, the personnel of USPTO or the assigned government trademark attorney supervises the trademark search.
