Some oil containing active ingredients can cause allergic reactions in some people. There can be reddening and itching on the surface of the skin.
However, some of the natural oils made from plant extracts seldom cause allergy reactions because they produce a soothing effect on the skin. You should avoid using oil that contains peanut oil because it can cause reactions.
Babies, who have very sensitive skin, are more prone to oil allergies. It is advisable that you inform your therapist about your allergies prior to undergoing a massage.
