A trademark is used on goods to identify their source. It is an important part of marketing your invention because it will serve as the identity of your product. Potential clients often refer to the trademark so that they will not be deceived by purchasing similar products of lesser quality. Therefore, there is a need for your invention to have a trademark.
If you will be marketing your invention outside the United States, it is advised that you file for a trademark in the foreign country of your choice. If you do not file for a trademark for your invention, others can file for the trademark and sell it in the same country.
