Do I need a business license to make a prototype of my invention?

You do not need to get a business license to make a prototype of your invention if you will not endorse it for commercial use. However, if that will be the case, you really need to get a business license. In addition, the license you will obtain for the prototype is separate from the license that you will get in case you start developing the final product for sale.
