The Benjamin Gilman scholarship program offers scholarships for those who are in need of financial assistance to be able to finish their education. This award is given to undergraduates who have established impressive academic records. This is a part of the International Academic Opportunity Act of 2000 in the United States. Students who are receiving a federal Pell grant funding are encouraged to study abroad with the aid of this scholarship.
The Gilman scholarship program is based in Houston, Texas, and is sponsored by the United States Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. This congressionally funded program is operated by the Institute of International Education.
