Roofs are one of the most visible parts of the house. They also take a battery of weathering. There are different types of roofs, the most common roofing materials being the following:
- Asphalt Shingles – the most popular roofing used in America today. They can be reinforced with either fibreglass or organic shingles with the former being more popular.
- Wood Shingles or Shakes – usually made from cedar
- Tile – durable roofing material but can get quite expensive
- Metal – several types like the flat locked copper are available. Metal roofing can be broken down into two groups: 1) the architectural and 2) the structural.
