It depends on the attic space of your roof. A bigger attic space will require much more ventilation to avoid damage to your roof and also to increase energy efficiency. In order to give you an idea of the ventilation your roof requires, construction standards state that there should at least be one square foot of exhaust ventilation for every 300 square feet of attic space.
