The internet gives you the power to communicate with other people anywhere in the world for free. Who would want to pay for something that you can have for free?
VoIP is very much like your instant messenger that you use for chatting with friends. But instead of text messages, VoIP uses your voice to communicate. It's all a matter of transmitting digital data via the Internet.
One example is the free long distance call. However, in order to make these calls, the person you try to contact should have the same VoIP software or the same VoIP service provider that you have. This means that if you are calling from a VoIP phone to a traditional landline phone, you will have to pay a fee for it. However, fees are very affordable compared to traditional phones.
