There are two ways to hang blinds: the easy way and the hard way.
1. The first thing to do is to ensure that the package is complete. Check the blinds themselves and their accessories such as screws, brackets, valance clips and valances. Some blinds may include a center support bracket, depending on their size.
2. Get the tools needed for installation. A 1/4” hex bit, drill, tape measure and scissors are needed for the easy way. Tape measure, hammer, Phillip head screwdriver, nail, pencil and scissors are needed for the hard way.
3. Bracket installation using two sets of screws is done first, attaching a bracket to each side of the window. Use the ¼” hex bit and drill for the easy way. For the hard way:
- Use the pencil to make marks on the window moldings through the holes of the brackets, one bracket on each side of the window.
- Start the holes by hammering a nail partway into the pencil marks.
- Remove the nail from the hole and place the bracket where it is going to go.
- Screw the screws into the shallow holes you made with the nail, using a Phillips (cross-point) screwdriver.
4. If there is a center support bracket, install it the same way you installed the end brackets, using the measuring tape to make sure it is centered between the end brackets. The center support bracket should not interfere with the strings.
5. Set the valance clips into place. Set the blind in the up position for easier hanging until installation is complete.
6. Set the blind into the bracket, ensuring that each end snaps into the bracket.
7. After closing the brackets, snap the valance into the valance clips.
8. Pull the blinds down and up a few time to make sure everything is installed properly.
