The popularity of football in America began to rise when the NFL instituted its first player draft in 1936. The ruggedness of the game and the strategy of planning the plays makes the game popular with many men.
Some popular teams are the Chicago Bears, Chicago Cardinals, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, and the New York Little Giants. Football's popularity declined during World War II but football has since regained its popularity.
