It is not usually advisable to install wall-to-wall carpet if you live in a humid climate. Since molds grow in moisture-rich places, a carpet that cannot be moved around can accumulate moisture and that also means growth of mold.
Under the carpet, there is a high risk for moisture in a humid climate. If there is excessive moisture, the accumulation of mold starts. This will endanger your health. But having a home that is moisture-free can help reduce the risk for mold growth in an area with a humid climate.
If you use an area rug, be sure to keep the floor dry underneath by moving the rug around and checking for moisture regularly.
