The key to controlling and eliminating mold is moisture control. Dry water-damaged areas and items within 24 to 48 hours. Always get rid of the water or moisture before trying to clean up mold.

Fixing leaky plumbing or other sources of dampness is a big help in eliminating moisture and controlling mold growth. Any absorbent materials, such as ceiling tiles and carpet, that become moldy should be replaced.
