Like its top speed, the average speed of a NASCAR car varies from race track to race track. It is figured based on the winner's lap speed through the entire race. For instance, at the Talladega Superspeedway, which is the fastest track, the recorded average speed is about 188 miles per hour (303 kilometers per hour).
At the Infenion Raceway, the slowest track, the average speed is only about 81 miles per hour (132 kilometers per hour). The Martinsville Speedway, which is a very short and nearly flat paper-clip oval track, has a recorded race average speed of 82 miles per hour (156 kilometers per hour).
