You should always dispose of a broken mirror responsibly. If you aren't careful with it, it can cause accidents. You should wrap broken mirror pieces in used papers or newspaper, then place them in a plastic bag and dispose of it properly.
Some people even smash the mirror into smaller pieces before they throw them away. This is a good idea; however, you need to protect yourself with protective gear, especially your eyes, to prevent tiny shards of mirror from cutting you. Then put the small pieces in a box and seal the box with tape before you dispose of it.
