The muscles in the bowel of a person contract few times per day. This is what causes a bowel movement. But if you have IBS the muscles are robustly sensitive to triggers or stimuli that may attack the bowel. Therefore, when you eat, your bowel muscles provoke a strong response. This often leads to diarrhea and constipation. If you experience these symptoms, you should see a doctor. IBS is relatively easy for a doctor to diagnose.
